In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Certified Occupational Therapists Shobha Neupane and her husband, Keshap Gautam, dedicated themselves to the well-being of numerous patients in Sonoma County, California. As a leader in two distinct facilities and with Keshap working as a skilled clinician under her guidance, the dynamic duo made a significant impact in reducing hospitalizations and readmissions, minimizing joint contractures and deformities among the vulnerable elderly population, and enhancing immunity through movement and activity.

Their joint efforts also addressed the mental health implications of social isolation, alleviating occupational deprivation by reestablishing routines, roles, and habits. Moreover, they promoted engagement in education, music, and learning within the home, ultimately increasing independence in daily activities and alleviating caregiver burden.

Shobha Neupane, a Kansas graduate with an extensive career in occupational therapy since 2005, has held various positions, including staff therapist, rehab director, regional rehab director, multi-facility operations manager, and teacher/trainer. She is deeply passionate about providing direct, hands-on patient care and treats every individual with dignity and respect. As a staunch patient advocate, Shobha abides by the mantra, "Treat every patient as if they were our own family."
